45 and 47 Stella artois lager Street and Everything that Took place Essay

The children's story ‘45 and 47 Stella Street and everything that happened' (Honey, 1995) written by Elizabeth Honey is a novel aimed at pre-adolescent girls. However in saying that boys throughout the same age group would as well find this book enjoyable. The storyline is told from the point of view of Hinni who is a great 11 yr old girl. It is about her and her ‘Gang', consisting of her closest friend Zev, Her sister Danielle and Frank, Zev's 6-year-old next-door neighbour who is located at 47 Stella Streets. The book tells of all their efforts to expose the " Phonies” and their secret existence. It is obvious through evaluation of the publication that there are underhanded implications toward enforcing the concepts of masculinity and femininity about young visitors using the strategies of narrative theory.

Narrative theory consists of 3 key approaches, the point of view/focalisation, reader positioning and closure. The actual of look at or focalisation is always prejudiced. When watching a film or browsing a book you are still watching or perhaps reading it from an individual or something's perspective. In Stella Road it is Henni who is showing us what is happening, you only observe things by her point of view and therefore you tend to affiliate with her. Target audience positioning is important and very a lot like that of standpoint and focalisation. Readers or viewers are situated so that they have a positive response toward several characters and a negative response toward others even though both parties may be at the wrong on some events. The readers of 45 and 47 Stella Street are positioned so that they wish for the Stella Street's team to succeed above the Phonies. Drawing a line under is how the story proves, who ends up succeeding eventually and who doesn't. Once again in forty five and 47 Stella Road it is the Stella artois lager Street gang who overcome the Phonies.

It is obvious that the men in forty-five and 47 Stella Avenue hold assertive qualities even though the women maintain feminine characteristics. In terms of power it is the men that hold this control as...
